"I strongly believe if I had not completed the course, I would not have been given this great opportunity to work for Pilbara Iron, a member of Rio Tinto group.

The knowledge and skills obtained on the course assisted me greatly in the initial training period in the actual working pit of Yandicoogina. It provided me with a basic level of understanding of pit operations and assisted my confidence level in the operation of these large machines. I am enjoying the work and the camp lifestyle at Yandicoogina immensely."

Mining Training Services (MTS) is now operating as Immersive Operator Training

Immersive Operator Training in tune with the mining boom

A quote from our Western Australian Premier, The Hon. Alan Carpenter

"WA is Australia's strongest state economy, growing faster than China and generating thousands of high quality and highly paid jobs every month. In fact Western Australia's unemployment rate is now at a record low 3.6%. And this looks set to continue, with $23.3 billion worth of projects currently under construction in Western Australia and public and private investment in infrastructure in WA estimated to reach $650 billion over the next twenty years. The only downside to all of this is that we are seriously short on skilled workers to build and operate these world-class projects.

This is where you come in...

While we are currently spending record amounts to train Western Australians, we need thousands of skilled workers from interstate and overseas if we are to make the most of the opportunities we now have. And, of course, we don't just have great job opportunities available in Western Australia - we also have the best lifestyle in the country. We have great weather, a relaxed outdoor lifestyle, fine wines and great food. We also have world-class health and education services and, unlike some other parts of Australia, you don't have to pay tolls on our roads or pay for parking at the beach." The pool of experienced people has dried up because of the lack of traineeships and apprenticeships not offered to young people in the past.

Immersive Operator Training (formerly MTS) is a Registered Training Organisation that issues nationally recognised qualifications to the Metalliferous Mining and Civil Construction Training Packages, specialising in Dump Truck training and other mobile plant.

The lack of skilled labour is seriously impacting on company's expansion plans and on immediate productivity. They want people for long haul and companies are offering excellent incentives.

Mining and Civil Construction Companies have indicated that because of the training provided by MTS, less time needed in practical training onsite due to the quality of skills taught whilst on our courses, take advantage now.
